Fendi
I have been patiently waiting for a design from the house of Fendi to wow me. I mean the kind of wow that is undeniable, the feeling you get when you see a bag that you absolutely must have! Not saying that this bag is it, but it could be, in a different version. While the Fendi Patent Shoulder Bag has a shoulder strap, the chic way to carry it is sans-strap as an oversized clutch. The oversized bag from Fendi was spotted on the Spring 2008 RTW runway in various forms, my favorite being the multicolor hues and oversized stitching (similar to the multicolor Doctor Frame Bag). I am still waiting to see that bag in person and see how much it wins me over (it could be the bag that turns me back on to Fendi). So this bag, the patent shoulder bag, is slightly reminiscent of what I am yearning for. The good news is this is easy to wear, at all times. Th black patent leather will carry over for seasons and the fold over top is a nice finish. This is ok, but I am waiting for stunning!

Katie Holmes
This is a first, the first time we have spoken about Roger Vivier. But Vivier, known as the “Fragonard of the shoe”, has created some of the most important shoes of the 20th century, including in the 1950’s when he invented the stiletto heel. Vivier passed in 1998 and Bruno Frisoni took over as the artistic director in 2002. Frisoni has continued to keep the brand growing, as the shoes have always spoken for themselves and now the handbags are seen on every top celebrity and socialite from Paris to New York.
One of the biggest fans of Roger Vivier is Katie Holmes, who has been seen in Vivier often. The latest acquisition for Katie Holmes is the stunning Roger Vivier Mikado Flat Bag in black python from the fall/winter 2008-2009 collection. While Katie wears her Vivier bag, her daughter Suri enjoys her very own pair of iconic Roger Vivier Buckle Flats. Jealous? Yes, I am as well. Suri is becoming a fashionista in her own right and Katie Holmes is stunningly dressed in Vivier accessories, including her sunglasses and new handbag.

Gossip girl
It’s Wednesday. What better way to get over the mid-week hump than spending a little time drooling over handbags? While you sit there thinking how your nefarious boss keeps piling up the work while all you want to do is to kick back for a minute, fear not, take even just a few minutes with this clutch and you’ll feel refreshed.
I just got done watching an episode of one of my absolute favorite shows, Gossip Girl. You may recall, I was planning to do a recap of every episode like I do for Project Runway, but gathering the pictures and IDing the fashions in a timely manner proved to be harder than expected, so I scrapped that idea recently (which made me very sad!).
Gossip Girl is still one of the most fashion-forward and style-conscious shows on television, so from time to time, when I spot something particularly fabulous on the series, I’ll post about it.
Today’s feature is a bit of a throwback, and a good example of how things can often look much more interesting when worn than they do in pictures online. I spotted the Foley + Corinna Jet Setter Jr. Tote in cream leather worn by Lydia Hearst on the first season finale, and it immediately seemed much more chic than I expected. I’m usually not a huge fan of “north-south” shaped totes, particularly those meant to be worn in the crook of the arm. To me, they can easily look awkward, but the Jet Setter tote looked like it would be the perfect size on a normal-sized woman (Ms. Hearst, as you can see, hardly exists).

Gucci bag
Finally. Someone at Gucci has thrown out a life preserver to save their Resort 2008 collection from complete irrelevancy, and that life preserver is the Sukey Large Python Tote. We’ve spoken previously about the fake-tattoo-covered shortcomings of the 2008 group of bags, and they aren’t pretty. The Python Sukey, however, is nothing short of gorgeous. The reason that it works so well is that the shape of the bag is extremely simple and the surface of the python skin is unmarred by exterior pockets, decorative doo-dads, and unnecessary seaming. The python skin itself takes center stage, and the beautiful combination of cream, tan, and brown scales make a perfect fall bag, even for a girl that isn’t that enthusiastic about brown in any form. Bravo, Gucci. I knew you could do it. This bag is so beautifully simple that it almost makes me forget your past sins.

Chloe bag
I am not usually one to sport really bright colors. I should probably venture out from my comfort zone a bit and add bright colors to my repertoire. Maybe I can get started with this Chloé Elongated Lizard Clutch. At first glance, the green resembled the hue of green that comes to mind when I think Art Deco and I kind of like it. The water monitor lizard clutch is adorned with gold hardware and is secured with a turnlock. I’ve been on the fence with a few Chloé handbags in the past, but this is one I am excited about. You will no doubt spruce up your outfit with the material and color combination of this clutch. I am always a little wary when it comes to sporting too much red or green around the holidays, but this shade of green doesn’t scream christmas tree or anything like that. I say this bag is a hit!
